I know I am digging up a dead dog here, but... Yeah, I'm from the Spokane area. I live out in Davenport and would like to detect with a fellow local some time. Anyone else here from the Spokane area?

Howdy Sean,

 Mel  from spokane, so how are the finds out your way?  What machine are ya useing. i am useing a fisher-F70. Been out to the davenport area many years ago detecting, don't remember where exactly.   have a very old beach dune area in pulman on the river i like to hunt.  Ritzsville out in the toolies has a lot of old places to hunt ya end up doing a lot of walking.  Been hunting an old homestead along the spokan river, getting coins to 1920 so far and one silver jewerly pendant(religion).

Mel,

New to detecting, so I'm just figuring it out. I think I will figure it out a lot faster when salmon fishing is done. I have quite a few places I plan on hitting. I hunt with a Minelab Sterling, Gold Master II, and soon a Minelab Explorer II. So far, I have $.01 in clad and a silver plated pendant... and lots of junk. Maybe we can get together and do a hunt or two.

Howdy Sean,

 I know how the fishing bug goes, gotta get em while they are running. At least the coins will still be there, they don't travel to far. Out hunting sat. and sun., pulled 13 coins out, nothing older than 1952. Am on my way to an old park this morning. makeing plans to hit the ritzville area soon, have a couple of very old homesteads out that way, should turn up some good stuff. In a few weeks we could get an outing planned.

I was thinking that crab creek BLM land would be interesting. Always big camping outings there. Probably some old homesteads there as well.

Howdy Josh,

 Well how about that, 2 of us from spokane valley, wash. on here. Glad ya joined, this is a good site. went detecting yesterday at a homestead on the river, been getting coins to 1919 so far . Found a big cap pistol, looks like the old colt revolver. 5 inches deep. I pretty much hunt each week.  I am useing a fisher brand, what do you have.

hey mel,  first of all congratulations on your recent findings.  about a month ago i bought a bounty hunter from big 5, used it for about a week.  Maybe it was just newbie error, but i got lots of "beeps" in my back yard and after tearing up my back yard to find lots of nails, foil, and a tube of super glue, i returned it and ordered a coin master pro from whites.  I love it.  found 9 pennies and a dime where the other one didn't even make a sound.  found it much easier to avoid digging up the junk when it shows you the probable target.

how bout you what kind of weapon do you swing around? Round About

 Now whites is a good brand, used to have a 6000 DI, did well with it but was difficult at times. Seemed I had to ground balance a lot during a hunt. Now I use a fisher  F-70, good machine, bought it recently thru KellyCo. I did have a garret recently that was stolen, i think my next machine will be a garrett again. you mentioned hunting your yard, is your place old? My favorite time to hunt is right after a rain period. getting into a good time of year to hunt as all the tall grass is finally dying off. My place on the river has tall grass 3-4 ft. Makes it tough to hunt, but is finally laying down enough to get some good swings going on. Before the snow gets here we should team up on a place. Don't be diswaded from digging junk from your yard, at times ya need to get the junk out to get to the good stuff. If I have an old place to hunt, I will spend a lot of time takeing out the junk, then i go back over the area and usually do end up finding good stuff.
