A mining poem from my past, please enjoy.

Funny how men working in the dark bring you lite..

Does it feel like a life time for men making a living in the dark underground ?
Mining coal deep in the earth where only the bravest of men was ever known
Working the mine for years under these conditions takes a special kind of joe
Dark as hell blackest of night the mind plays tricks as the eyes fight for sight                    Bright as a thousand suns burn hot white a gleam shines from a miners light
Cat eye crew silently materializes on site forty eyes adjusted to the dark night
Two trackman to keep the rails clear mechanics underground to fix and repair
Red hats pull the cables throughout the mine electricians energize up the line
Dark as hell blackest of night the mind plays tricks as the eyes fight for sight
Bright as a thousand suns burn hot white a gleam shines from a miners light
Miners short or tall in true darkness all that is seen was a light atop the skull
Not a single face can be seen the ears strain from noise of man and machine
Is a coalminer?s nightmare to be deep in the mine without a beam of light ?
Dark as hell blackest of night the mind plays tricks as the eyes fight for sight
Bright as a thousand suns burn hot white a gleam shines from a miners light
