Found this Today, Thought of it being an Urn lid didnt came to mind until after getting Home. At first The Material came to mind, a Magnet doesnt stick to it. I really dont know "Metal" Materials at all I admit. To Me It looks like Brass or maybe even Copper. I should have got a better Photo of top The outer edge as it looks kind of like Threads but I dont think They are actually threads. Doesnt look to be a "start" to screw on. It was found in The ST. Louis Missouri area. Just something a few Decades old? Something Older? Really not sure what it is or what its made of.

Looks like a cauldron body for an essential oil burner. They sit on a ring of a wire stand over a candle for burning essential oil or wax candle melts. It may be brass or pewter.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Did a search on oil burners and thats a good Answer, Thanks. I imagine its machine or cast made, really doesnt look handmade. Not an ancient drinking vessel or something. Shucks.

Essential oils have been around since 2 or 3 thousand BC so you really can't tell how old it is. When people died, oils were used to annoint the body prior to burial. The oils were used to cleanse the air of the sick back in medieval times. Don't cast it aside. It is a wonderfully ornate item. Besides, I might be wrong.
