Go Up Go Down

We found these items while detecting today in NE Alabama, presumably 1900's homestead. We are assuming the bigger pieces are plow blades, but there is an Oval piece and a smaller thinner knife blade looking object. All are made of iron.
Item #1 The Oval piece is three inches wide and 4 3/4 inches long. My husband says it is curved like a pringles chip!
Item #2 The blade with the hole in the middle is 7 inches long
Item #3 the whole blade piece is 3 and 3/4 wide and 8 1/2 diagonally
Item #4 the knife blade looking piece is about 4 1/2 inches long.
All were found pretty close together. All within 6 feet. We are newbies so thanks for any help!

Hard to tell without cleaning. Third may be a broken plow point.

Here is a very good site on cleaning and preserving  of different types of materials.

I think number two is too big to be a pick axe. Its almost the same size as the other blade.
I scrubbed them really good but they're so rusty. I'll check the sight out and see if I can get them any cleaner. If so I'll just post better pictures. Thanks for all your help! Smiley

The first is a point used on a spring cultivator shank. These are usually made of abrasion resistant steel. the second may be the opening point of a one-way plow. I agree that the third is the leading edge of a one-way plow. number four I would need another view, but I think is a tooth from a drag cultivator. Nice job.

Shocked Awesome! Thanks so much poptop! We dug these items at a friend's house and I wanted to be able to tell him what we found. I really appreciate your knowledge!
