Go Up Go Down

Hi everyone.  I found this at an old farmhouse in North Texas.  The area has some great history to it.  The house dates to the late 1890's.  It was lived in until around 1960 so I'm not sure how old this could be as I'm pretty new to this.  It measures 2 7/16 inches long by 9/16 inches tall.  I believe it is brass.  The back looks like it used to have a pin on it.  Thanks alot in advance for any help.  Hopefully I'll have many more finds from there to show ya'll in the future.

looks like a shirt pin that would have been worn above a shirt pocket , sort of like today's army wears there badges etc,

My guess would be something like a Texas militia or rangers or something like that, heck it could even be the boy scouts, try contacting someone in Texas who deal in badges,

google Texas badges see what pops up and send them a email with a pic and see what they have to say. if nothing else maybe they can point you in the right direction.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

Definitely NOT Texas Rangers or militia.   BUT I'm pretty sure Karl is pointing you in the right direction.  I would say that it is part of convention badge indicating the wearer was a member of the delegation from Texas.  Now whether that was a masonic, elks, or other fraternal convention, a veterans convention, a religious convention, or an industrial or sales convention, or even a political convention is anyone's guess.  It would help if you could do a title trace on the property and see if any of the previous owners might have been heavily enough involved in an organization of the types mention to be a delegate to a national convention.

I looked under Military Pins and Badges with no luck.

May try Law Enforcement and the like here later.

Thanks alot Karl.  I appreciate all the help.  I had a few of those in mind but I figured there were many people on here that know a great deal more than me.  I was in the Army and the badge I found is designed somewhat like our marksman badges were.  Thanks again for the help and I'll let ya'll know if I ever find out exactly what it is.

Thanks very much BitburgAggie_7377.  I had just finished pretty much ruling out anything to do with the Rangers or Texas Militia and I wasn't having much luck anywhere else.  Thanks alot for the new suggestions.  I wish the house would have been abandoned longer than it has.  It makes dating hard for beginners like me.  Thanks again for all your help!

I think Karl, Bitburg and others are on the right track.  Reminds me of the top portion of some type of medal or badge like this one:

The two loops on one side suggest that something was attached to it by two small chains. To give you an idea here's a different kind of medal.

Here is something I have been searching on thinking it may be related to some type of political convention delegate badge.  Kind of like this one but finding the right convention and year may be difficult.
