Go Up Go Down

I found this on a beach on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

I'm thinking it's a button? It's about 1 1/2cm in Diameter.
It's Copper and appears to have a design on it. Looks quite old!

I haven't tried to clean it yet.

Sorry, but it will be really hard to tell until you clean it. High value buttons are called that but it's a misnomer. In the button world, $3 - $4 is considered high value. If damaged, we're talking under $1. Clean it without fear. Warm, soapy water will do the trick.

By the way, based on the outer rim indentations, it might be a fire brigade or fire department button. Again, hard to tell at this stage.

After cleaning up I didn't get much, but it was enough for my keen detective skills to match it to this!

{alt}{alt}
Thanks for the encouragement to clean it!

Well, that sure helped a bunch! There are a bazillion of them out there. But still an exciting find. Most children don't lose them because they are treasured.

Definitely. And it was amazing how much better it looks and identifiable when you clean off the mud. You reminded me of how rich the soil is there.

What a difference in the before and after. The before looked like it was packed in bearing grease!
