Ok guys, it is all good.

GD, are you, maybe, confusing Uruguay with Peru?? I don't think we produce bauxite over here.

Anyway, I posted my finds in this post, quite a lot of coins and a nice bullet:

Central South America has abundant deposits of bauxite. Uruguay is on the very edge of the range.

The point is that identifying by guessing is impossible. You need to study up on some elementary geological testing that can be done using simple equipment. The easiest is to get a white ceramic tile from your local brickmason and use the back side of it for streak testing. Cost you just a small amount. Specific gravity testing can be done with a suspension scale and a glass of water. Can't get any simpler than that. Hardness testing can be done by gathering a few tools together and some known hardness minerals and rocks.

Also, you can grind a corner of your piece to see what the interior matrix looks like. If it is a chunk of meteorite, the matrix will pop out to you like a 3D movie spear.

Learn a bit about all of those by using Google. No kidding. The instructions are out there.

It was VERY hard, but I broke it. A piece of wire mesh was inside. How is that possible, I don't know.

How that is possible is pretty much how Seldom was trying to tell you.   Seawater contains many, many dissolved minerals from a variety of sources, including broken seashells.  Some of these minerals, such as calcium carbonate, make very good binding agents.  So when the calcium carbonate molecules settle on the mesh, sand sticks to it.   The mesh with the sand stuck to it gets tumbled around and collects more sand and more calcium carbonate.   And over time, it becomes a big, hard rock which because it has the wire mesh inside is able to be "seen" by your detector.

It was building stucco.

Now do you see why it is so very hard to identify a find by a photograph?

Not this time, Seldom. I believe it is a chunk of building debris. Some stucco siding.
