Hi all. Spring is around the corner and I hope to be more active in this forum. Last weekend I came across with a pair of A&W mugs with a green logo on them instead of the more traditional one. I put them on eBay for sale and a potential buyer e-mailed me asking for the origin of the mugs for in many years collecting, she had never seen an green A&W logo. I googled it out and came out empty handed. Anybody knows?

Look on the bottom and see if there is any lettering embossed there. During the 50s and 60s there were lots of promotions by McDonalds, Burger King and other fast food outfits using mugs like that. Almost always, they embossed the date information in the glass at the base of the mug.

I just looked thru my book on A&W root beer {yes I have a book on A and W root beer LOL} and found zero on the green and brown colors but my book only covers what was used in their drive inns not all the side promotions over the years. As GD said they had all kinds of promotions with most of the fast food places plus I remember they had a promotion with Jelly Belly jelly beans back in the 80's or 90's might look into that a little more.

Good to see you Cyber glad your posting again

Rats!

Is the green color even or splotchy? It could be a pair of formerly brown ones left in the sun too long.

Where the green is was orange on most mugs plus they look more like cups to me not mugs or maybe just the picture. But GD may be on to something with his sun fade theory.

No, they are not faded ones. They even look like new. Yeah they are cups.

A&W coffee used in Canada in the 80' s I think the green meant special blend or decaf because they also used orange.

Maybe a St Patrick's Day celebratory cup. A special edition.

I did a full image search and turned up absolutely nothiing. I'd put a price of around $25.00 each and declare them to be extremely rare.
