As usual, seldom beat me to it.   But yeah, I'd have to say he is correct.  You're other choice is it got cut like that to use as a fishing weight (and I lean toward the first).

Yea I have seen a few as I am sure others here have also. No real big valve but many a collector would love to have it in there collection
