Sorry, I was out ploughing and salting the highway for over 36 hours since Friday Night..just catching up on sleep!!

Over 500 crash's as the highway was a bit icy and everyone still drives like hell...5 tractor trailers went over in my run area alone..had to shut down the highway twice in my area ( 36 kms long)

My 5 trucks lost or damaged 3 blades or wings..and when I had 4 hours off and they put someone else in my combo unit..he blew a front tire and didn't know for almost a mile...my truck is really F**ked up..he ran the rim down to the spokes!!!

One of the hardest long runs I have had in 6 winters of doing this..looks like snow every day this week also.

We have it bad here!!!!  We had ice, then snow & then rain, then more snow & freezing rain.....& no temps above freezing for a week or so.
Bad thing is.....we are not used to it & have no snow plows....so they use a road grader/maintainer & scrape what they can....but they don't scrape down to the pavement for fear of damaging it!  So we mainly have to just wait till it melts off!!!

Here it's now - 17..salt does not work at that temp..my combo trucks have "brine" tanks so we wet the salt with brine as we spin it off...helps to get it working...you would think that living in Canada, people would know to slow down when the salters are out....nope...they still drive like it clear and dry.

Up here SUVs make up about 19 % of the Vechicals people drive...however in snow and ice they make up about 70% of the crashes!!!

Gotta wonder sometimes.

Deb, I just relized you are in Texas...I didn't think you got snow way down there often...our weather patterns are really messed up..we had little snow until the Begining of Jan this year...very odd!
