I found this ring today. Smiley
I know its gold. It weights’ 6 grams and the stone most likely a ruby.?
But I can’t find any info on the hallmark of a bull’s head with the letters IV or TV (can’t read it, its not very clear) between the horns.
Please help if you can

It doesn't look like gold to me because there is tarnish where the plating has worn off. Looks plated. Gold would have its purity stamped into the ring.

The bull head with the letters is not necessarily a hallmark. It may be a touch mark or maker's mark. Hallmarks are used only on silver and gold. Touch marks are used on pewter. Guild marks are used to indicate the guild, if any, from medieval times which are carried forth today. It's complicated. Here is a page to look at:

Yea, me too.   Looks like a Makers Mark.    Hall marks will not only tell you what Proof it is but were it was made.  Three Marks.   City or Location it was Made.

Thanks I agree with makers mark. The ring is Gold
I did used metal polish and the tarnish marks gone.
There is still some tarnish left at the joint where they used gold solder to joint.
GD the ring was in the water for very long time. i have seen many lower carat rings to turn green/black in the salty water.
Any way I am thinking of ordering a gold testing kit.
I will let you know the results

Good luck with your assay after you get your kit. Even gold rings made in the 1600s had purity stamps so I wish you luck.

That is one I have not seen.  Local makers mark as others had said.  Still a nice find!
