I starting metal detecting a year ago.  Im still using my first detector I bought 12 months ago, a fisher 1260x.  I've hunted alot with this thing.  I think I'm just now using it to its full potential.  I have finally figured out how to set the discrimination how I like it.  I mostly hunt horse and cow pastures and woods in North Mississippi.  I found this bullet and I think this other thing is a percussion cap.  I found them in my horse pasture.  I live on an old gravel road that was used during the civil war.  Im trying to find an old campsite.  I here thats where you can find alot of good stuff like buttons and buckles.  Anyway, Im new here and just wanted to say hello and show my finds.  They are not much compared to most of yours, but a good start.

Oh, how well I remember my first Minie ball find. Mine had a white bit of stick in it that turned out to be a bit of bone. Imagine my surprise! The local museum in Norfolk asked if they could have it and being in a generous mood, I said yes. I also found one with teeth marks in it on the same day and they wanted that, too. They said it was common practice for field surgeons to have their patients bite on a bullet to keep them from cracking their own teeth during bullet removal and other surgery.

Nice find. That one will be a memory for life.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
