I personally wouldn't sell it because it's beautiful. But I'm sure there are some kind of laws of antiquity that you would violate by doing so, but I'm not sure of that where you are.

Without any provenance you will only get a fraction of what it is worth. I am unfamiliar with the laws in the Sudan regarding antiquities but it needs to be examined and authenticated by an expert if you hope to get a good price.

muneer, That is one of the most interesting finds I've ever seen on this site and it is probably worth a lot if authenticated which wouldn't be difficult. There are lab methods to age date bronze.  My guess is it isn't necessarily Egyptian. It has the features of both Egyptian and Nubian art. The closest thing I could find among reproductions of Egyptian statutes is here:

typically Egyptians gave there figures full bodies, large hips, calves, shoulders, and chest. East African art depicted very thin bodies, slender necks, almost no calves, and otherwise thin figures. The difference is probably that the Egyptian art we are familiar depicted the upper class which was well fed and robust while Nubian art we are familiar with is tribal art depicting less well fed and robust individuals. This statue seems to be a blend. Also the cartouches are much different.  Gods are adopted from one culture to the other. This one may have been adopted from Egypt by a non Egyptian culture. At times the Egyptians controlled their neighbors.  Just some speculation... Gambol

Wow, I agree that it is one of the most interesting finds I've seen posted. Would your gov take it away from you if they knew you had it? Sue
