Sorry, don't want to bring rain on your parade, but is seems like a casted cheap tourist copy.
Due to the unsharp an uneven markings / herioglyphs, these kind of authentical items were hand made and seldom casted whithout corrections.

I have seen som identical statues brought home as souvenirs from Egypt.

I might be totally wrong as well but the pattern from bad sandcasted items are all over the statue.

Niobium, the preferred method of making such things in antiquity was to use sand casting. That is why fakes are so hard to expose. The method used for making them is the same primitive casting method employed by the original makers thousands of years ago.

It may be a genuine article that had a flaw. The sand cast originals were made into the perfect statues you see today in museums by the artisans adding molten metal to the pitted flaws or chafing away the bumps. They had the same problems as today's investment casting people have and the same methods for making a rough item into a work of art.

If this is genuine, I suggest to you that it isn't complete. If not, it may be as you say; a tourist copy only.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You have made a genuine find of a lifetime if indeed it is authentic.
As difficult as it may sound you may have to give it up. Better than the alternative of giving up your head.....Don't wait till they take it!
Donate it and you may get more than just satisfaction of being part of something. They just may be able to run a few tests to determine it's authentication.
Truly if it is real it may just be a treasure worth having in a museum. As someone who has given up treasures myself "Fossils" I can tell you that there is a great deal of satisfaction in knowing you contributed in it's recovery and preservation.
It is a wonderful find. It sure looks good to me.

That is a very cool find.  I'd try to get in contact with a university archeology dept.   But you got to be careful with that, some of them are not friendly to those of us that use metal detectors.  Good Luck

Could the statue be from the Kindom of Kush?  The Kush had both Egyptian and Nubian influences in their culture.  If I'm not mistaken, their kingdom existed in what is now Sudan.
