Go Up Go Down

Found this "thing" at an old log house. Probably built before the Civil War. Not far from a cave that was used as a hospital for the Confederate side. A penny was found about 50 feet away dated 1902. This thing is brass with what appears to be silver or tin plating on it, mostly worn off. Bottom is curved like it may have been attached to something round. Rifle barrel perhaps? It is 2and 1/8 inches long,5/8 inch high in the front(?) Upright end is 3/8 inch thick,Base is 5/8 inch wide. There is a 5/16 hole3/4 Inch from the large end. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry. That's the camera's fault. I'll try another camera.

It may not be your camera. See if yours has a tulip picture on one of the buttons. That is a button that allows you to take extreme close up pictures. If it does, select that mode and depress your shutter button part way to focus your camera. Then take your picture.

If you don't have that macro mode, take your image from a greater distance using high resolution. Then shrink your image using the PhotoResizer software in the downloads section. It's free to members.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Thanks GD. I'll try that. I have two cameras and neither one has a macro feature.

Well , I'll try again. These are about the best I can do with what I have. Hope they are better than the first ones.
