 Hi there,

I'm a Aussie from Down Under. Trying to find out about a 13th century chinsese coin that was passed down from my father.

Is there a particular reason that you think this is a Chinese coin? I would tend to disagree. At first glance I would venture to say it is middle eastern of some sort. The writing is definitely not in Chinese characters. I would guess it is

It is virtually impossible to track down a coin without knowing the country of origin for sure.

Maybe it's a room key tag for the Aladin hotel or some other exotic place.

I haven't seen many coins with eyeletes to put a string through. I'm thinking it's some sort of I.D. tag...maybe dogtag like? Also whay would they use english numbers "1310"

1310 are not English numbers - they are Arabic numbers. That is one reason why I think the writing is Arabic on the coin. As for the loop on the top, no big deal - and anyone can solder a loop on a silver coin in order to wear it on a chain. Granted, it certainly isn't going to enhance the value of any coin, but it does make it a wearable piece of jewelry.

I am an Iranian.
the writing is in arabic and it is hard for me to read it's font. but the number is in English so it is not too old. old coins have arabic font numbers.

Yes, I agree. Not a Chinese coin but probably a hotel room tokken from the Middle East.

Best wishes,

Christian

any chance there's anything worth seeing on the other side that might help?

And while 1310  is "Arabic" numerals, there not quite the same as what would be on an arabic coin  ١٣١٠   .....if these are westernized Arabic numerals being used in place of true arabic characters and if 1310 is a date, and not a room number as suggested, were looking the date is roughly 1892 by our calendar.

Relic,

I think I may have found your coin:
