Homie, I think most of that is due to camera angle.    besides, if there is a missing pointer piece (metal, chalk, or pencil) which it clearly looks like there is, the method of attachment could be damaged which would cause the hole to look 'wrong".  In other words, if it screwed in there and got broken off, the act of breaking it off would deform the hole it screwed into.
