Folks I got this nice cowboy/monkey/cat porcelain in a estate sale, but I need help with ID the characters, era, and potential value. It's about 6" tall and has no hallmark. I can't identify one online. Thanks and HH

So it's not a porcelain? It has great details for being hobby ceramics, but everything is possible. The seller told me it was vintage porcelain, but of course, they can say whatever they want.  Embarrassed Here is the bottom pic.

Its does look like porcelain but lots of hobby studios poured porcelain green wear for the hobby trade in the 60's and 70's.  What makes me think it is not a mass produced pieces is the painting. The color of the pants is an under glaze which is applied to green wear then fired then a coat of glaze is applied second firing the gold on the wheel calls for a third firing lot of work for a mass market piece.

Makes sense. I used to work with ceramics in the past and had a commercial kiln. Well, it seems like not a great find after all. Thanks.  Wink

Although it seems as if you have a really good find,
I believe Seldom is correct in that it is a hobby piece.

BTW: I also think it is an organ grinder, not a cowboy.

The piece is perhaps earlier than Seldom has implied.
Could be from pre WWII, difficult to say.
Looks as if ever who owned it had it protected from handling or use as a vase.
Any staining inside the cavity?

It's clean inside, no stains just dust. I bought it in a estate sale and most of the things were antique and relatively high priced. I also bought a ceramic or porcelain tiny doll tea set made in Japan. I'll post the pics later tonight. I see that the piece has been preserved very well. No damage whatsoever.
