Hi Guys

Detecting in Belgium and am getting this kind of stone, it has a high content of iron in it because it sticks to my magnet but the strange thing about it is when on the ground I get a very good signal but if I hold it in my hand the signal is week, I don't have this with other objects, so what is this stuff? the photo here is of a small stone but I have come across some rather big ones and at first I had thought that I'd found a meteorite.

Yes there is a railway but there is no way that it could have come in this area. I would guess that the railway is 3 Km as the crow fly's

Well is it light weight because if it is, It might be Coke which is a smokeless version of coal that was used a lot during the 60s and 70s and people use to put it down on paths for grip on Paths and roads Once it had been burnt etc,

hmm this is a touph one... dosent look shiny or metalic so im going to have to vote no on slag... there are a lot of hot rocks out there I find them every so often but as soon as I take a close look and relize its not a metiorite  Sad I feel like I was one number off on the loto from winning $50 000
