hi guys any ideas pls. found a few months ago its very light was gilded once has the stamp marks (cbcx) on the shoulder of it made of brass or bronze or a mix of both got me stumped! many thanks stickman

Hmmm......... that's wierd!
Looks faintly like it might have some kind of religous connection, maybe in incense holder of something..
Might be worth taking it to a local church and see if they have any idea.......

thanks paul even here in scotland no joy on other forums! so it will be taken to a museum for id, the law in scotland is very different to the english law, over here the crown owns anything you find thats older than victorian" so 1800 on is usually ok to keep pennies and so on.many  thanks anyway paul cheers from stickman!

Wow, that's a bit harsh!...... you do get the finder reward though don't you?
Looking at that again, the patterning on it is very "anglo saxon" in style.
When you say there is a stamp on the shoulder, is it "Modern" looking?

hi paul yes you do get a finders fee if its important enough, the object has got great patina but i know it was once gilded the stamp does look modern or the person who made it was very good, its made from one sheet no joins or welds, the metal has a strange tinny smell all the pattern is made from very small punch marks at random ie: hand done. you can see this as the dots ar not staight and sometimes out of line many thanks for taking the time to look cheers from a very wet scotland!     stickman.
