I should have posted this picture too, looks like a cover to a button, it's a little larger than a nickel and I found just south of San Francisco.

I did but the info seems a little uncertain I did a search and someone found one just like it in Ohio detecting, I think it's replica of an old coin.

Go online see if u can find some kind of catholic coin collector or button collector and send them the pics and see what they say.
