    Glade I was brought up with Fire Arms my whole Life.  The stuff you guys are talking about I take for granted that everyone would know.  Guess Not. 



The Soft Nose bullet you found was made to Mushroom on impact causing more Tissue and Shock damage in a Animal.  Stopping Power. 

It's possible that shooting the same animal in the same location with a Solid core bullet it would past right through and cause little damage to the critter.    Soft nose or Hollow Points insure Maximum Effect.   Hollow points are the ones that can enter at 6mm and come out 15cm.    Not good for small critters.

the interesting thing is that the bullet is not used, i can't see the sign of a barrel on it.
