The "double D" or DD is a doubleing of the "D" mint mark and is considered a mint error that occurs during the stamping of the coin.  For some reason, the die does a double hit on the blank coin and leaves a faint impression of the imprint next to the strong one.  Look at the  mint mark on the two pennies with a magnifying glass and you will probably see the second impression.               Detecting

I have been sniffing around, and the double headed Eagle holding the scepter in one claw and the sword in the other appears on Austrian coins. (Ducat) (Korona). Can't stay to play, digging up the yard.

Thanks, BA. As I understand it, there is also a Schilling and ten Heller equals one schilling. I need more: Is the sprig on the coin Edelweiss?

It doesn't look like any edelweiss I've ever seen or any representation of edelweiss that I've seen.   Every non-photo representation I've seen of it emphasizes the multi-point star appearance of the flower.   It could be a generic floral.
