Since it is a totem pole, I'd look to the Pacific Northwest, western Canada, or southeastern Alaska for answers.    If I get a chance in the next couple of days I'll see if I can dig anything up, but that should at least give you and everyone else a starting point.

Couple of questions to help:

What size is it?
Any idea what it is made of?

Any discernible marks on the bottom or on the "shield"?   (those would be really helpful, if they exist)

 Hey thanks I forgot to show the size it's hard to tell what type of metal it feels like lead, maybe iron I didn't
even notice while I was measuring it on the shield if you look closely theres a maple leaf on it.
