Go Up Go Down

A couple years ago I dug a brass heart shaped signal lock  Shocked It is in great shape, I do not have the chain or key, I cut the chain to get it outta the ground. On the front of the lock on the top part it is stamped CPRR, and on the piece that covers the key hole its stamped UNION BRASS MFG.CO CHICAGO. On the back on the top it has a S stamped into it. I have researched this lock a bunch of times. I know the S means signal lock! I have researched the brass company and this lock is old. My problem is this, When I try to research this CPRR lock I keep getting CENTRAL PACIFIC RAILROAD.Everything points to this being from California but I dug this lock 3 hours north of Toronto Canada, in the middle of nowhere in a ditch lmao. We have CN and CP uphere! I am looking for confirmation it is, but no one can tell me it is for sure Canadian or American. I will post pics of this killer lock.

Is this a Canadian lock or is it CENTRAL PACIFIC RAILROAD? I hope its from California Wink If it is from California woohoo  Pray  Its worth good money! I have had numerous people try to buy this lock of me.

Thanks for the help  Smiley

Ace,

If that is a car lock, then it would be fairly easy to explain finding a Central Pacific Railroad lock in "eastern" Canada.   If you look at most modern freight trains, you'll find they have cars from several different lines (including the occasional car from an entirely different system).   Your lock is probably off of a box-car that belonged to the CPRR but because of cargo routing wound up in your area (attached to a CN or CP train at the time).

Really nice find Ace Of Spades.  What did you mean you cut the chain to get it out of the ground ? Could it have been attached to a cash box or something.

Hope you rescanned the hole before you filled it in !

Man lol now im second guessing myself  Undecided  The chain was stuck in huge pile of slag so I cut it to get the lock out. I never saw the other side of the chain though. hmmmmm what if there is something on the other end of the chain?   Shocked And I just moved away from that area  Cry
