Found this at a baseball field.  It looked like it was covered in about 1/8" of asphalt and dirt.  It is metal but not iron ( magnet has no affect). It weighs 4.6 oz., too heavy for aluminum and it is very hard, a file will not even scratch it. It's conductive, read zero ohms with my multimeter. Reads a solid 24 on my F75 VDI.
I don't think it's a meteorite ( I'm not that lucky) just wandering what kind of metal it is.

Can you scratch through the outer coating and see the color of the metal?

It can't be scratched by a knife or even a file. I did grind a small place with a bench grinder and it's dull silver metal color.

Next up is calculating the specific gravity on your item. That will probably narrow your metals to 1 to 3 choices.

Looks like a campfire nugget to me. Aluminum can, melted by the heat of a roaring fire.

I would agree except it's way too heavy and hard to be aluminum.

What type of magnet did you use ?A fridge magnet isn't very strong I would try a rare earth magnet I have heard all meteorites are magnetic even Stone type meteorites  have some amount of metal.

You said the outside was hard. Did it spark when you touched it to the grinder? Aluminum won't spark. And a nugget is quite dense and heavy - not like thin aluminum, it feels more massive than a can despite being made from one.

Most likely it is either aluminum or pewter in a melted nugget from a fire. Perhaps a house burned down on the site long ago.
