Go Up Go Down

I've recently acquired these two insignias, I have no info on them at all nor can I find any.. I can say they are most likely military because of the many examples I've seen on the Internet. All the examples I've sit seen say military but no time Pined down, some say medieval others say 19th to 20th century. I have seen people say these symbols may stand for royalty? Mine had no real provenance when I acquired it but I have seen some that were said to have been located in the Balkans. I would really like to know what Army this is from if possible also the time period.
Thanks, Beau

Looks like the second one could have had the face of the queen in the center. Did you try to Google them ?

its been very tough trying to ID these... as I said before, some people think they are from medieval times and others think its as new as 20th century. But EVERYONE I have seen is labelled as military.
sure is a strange one! thanks for the opinions,
Beau Cheesy

I've seen something like this before, I think that they are unit id pins. 1700's, late. they used them on the breast belts to let people know what unit they are in. I think.

I think the 19th or 20th century is the correct time period.  They definitely do not look like US military Distinctive Unit Insignia (which come in several different shapes and sizes).  But that doesn't mean they aren't a European equivalent---especially the first one.   But then it could just as easily be a lapel insignia for a religious or scholastic order/group.  Personally, that is the way I would lean (and that could include something like the "Royal Order of .......").   The second is an even bigger enigma because it could be an insignia, or it could just be a broach.

BA

privha is probably referring to breast plates used during 17-1800s... I believe they were used in wars such as the revolutionary and war of 1812 here in North America . if you look them up they are oval in shape, often blank and then again also often marked to a certain unit. These look a bit small for a breast plate from my knowledge but the second one that's oval in shape looks very similar and definitely could have been used as an equivalent somewhere closer to the Balkans???
thanks for all the help and opinions as I love to hear them all,
Beau
