I doubt if it is "stone age", but if it is as round as it appears to be, I'd lean towards it being man-made.   My thought is that it is a cistern for storing rain-water.   If that's the case, then there should be some interesting finds in the area.   Who ever made it would have taken a long time to make it and would have been planning on using it regularly even if they did not plan on using it continously.....which in turn means they either had a settlement in the area or this would have been a regular campsite on a well used trade route....either of which increases the odds of finding something worth looking for.

I tend to agree.   Odds are that it was made either by Arabs/Muslims who arrived sometime between the late 700's and the time of the Crusades or by Europeans after they showed up.   Given the Arabs/Muslims were the predominant force in the area between the 700's and the late 1800's, my money is on them.   It also appears to be well within the technological capacity of Arabs from the "classical" Islamic period.

hello All

Possible but I tend to think it is natural in orgins, being near the rift valley and still in region that has had volcanic activity. It could be metane gas pocket in the trapped in the stone which finally caved in over time. Or a very big pothole in very heavy rain worn away by a round boulder rolling around the bottom of hole? but not to say it could not have been used later by humans. It real depends of evidence around the site if you have evidence of early habitation such as settlement foundations or old camp sites?

I've seen natural formations not unlike that in huge rocks. I'm Tossed on this one.

If the edges look worked then Man Made.

It was limestone boulder, eroded away leaving a hole. Most likely. Seen a few of these in NM in the mtns. and in the upper Sierra Nevadas in CA.

Looks like something of natural origin, but if there are no others in the area.. probably is man made Smiley

If Dogged out and has a center hole it is a Arasta.  A way to break down gold bearing Rock to loose the gold.

Look them up.
