My guess would be polished magnetite.

Polished Hematite is what it looks like. And yes it should be Magnetic.

Rokrmax, did you ask the lab why they didn't/couldn't put a name to your find? It's hardly a "Certificate of Gem Identification" if the gem was not identified.

The photos are a bit small after clicking on the thumbnail (hint to the forum's powers that be: being able to view larger versions of the photos would be nice). I made out the SG to be 3.2 (unit of measurement too tiny to read, but that's not important). Try running thru

(handy site to identify stuff)

It sure looks like hematite or magnetite, but the SG's too low to fit those categories. Maybe that's why the lab did not put a name to it?

Using PhotoBucket or other Host, He can make the photo any size he wishes.

SG may be off if it is hollow!

Oh yeah..i forgot about the right-click-save-image-then-expand-it-in-a-photo viewer dance.  Grin Yes it may have voids within it which would cause a lower SG.

Rokamax  didn,t tell us the history of where he got it , did he dig it up , buy it or if he polished it himself or by some other person ?  I doubt it was dug up that smooth and shiney , but more likely tumbled or polished on a buff .  I would like to see that stone in the rough ,it would tell-tale its character better , I think it is a chrystal of JET

hi all ...

we didn't do any thing to this object except for the tests. it was originally polished and it was found in ancient religious site

@Hobbyist- they said the tested object doesn't match any common known minerals  or gem materials

i like to attach few more of our test results we've done

Posted on: May 27, 2011, 03:23:38 AM
i don't think its a Hematite or magnetite because its has large amount of titanium and chromium

cheers,

Very intriguing, Rokrmax!
The photo titled "Certificate_06.jpg" states it is 'a dark amber colored shiny stone', but I didn't see any amber colors in your previous photos.

This interesting metal consists of 7 elements. and as you say, was found at a religious site. I'll hazard a wild guess (repeat: WILD GUESS) that it was part of a metallic meteorite that fell to earth. The heat of entering the atmosphere caused the elements to fuse into an amalgam/alloy, and people who found the meteorite used it as part of their worship rituals.

Just out of curiosity, did you scan it with any metal detector, and if so, what target ID (if any) was shown?
