Go Up Go Down

I found this item back in the 80s and was never able to get more info on it. The area where it was found, has a history dating from the colonial times to the present. I believe it is made of copper and is pitted much like a large copper coin might be. It is built in 3 sections like a jack knife. There is a pin at the bottom that holds the center section between the other two pieces. When you push down on the heel of the shoe, the center section slides forward. The resulting image becomes an advertisment for Viagra (use your imagination  Shocked). this item is about 3 inches high and 1 inch wide. So mainly I was looking for a date or a source of more info. thanks

"There was a time when it was not enough for a salesman to leave a business card in order to remind a would-be customer to purchase the caller’s wares. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, it was also customary for salesmen to leave a giveaway, too."  This came from a site

that specializes in Americana. I didn't find the item here but it would be a good place to start looking. Maybe a promotional giveaway trinket from a "tonic" manufacture.......? Idea Idea

With out seeing the whole item my guess is a combo bottle opener - cork screw .
Piece busted off heel would have been bottle opener and pop up piece had a cork screw?

Thanks for the responses. I have more complete photos but I am thinking that could get this thread deleted. Undecided  Actually there is nothing broken on it,so there is nothing missing from the heel. When you press on the heel, the center section pops out like the motion of a jackknife. maybe I will post a pic of the center section by itself. I'm thinking it was homemade. I am curious about its age because it has the same type of corrosion as the colonial coppers that I found in the same area and was wondering if it might be from the same era. It might not have a function other than just a novelty.

No censorship here, mate. All done voluntarily. What you did here is mere reporting and not something that others will disapprove of by any stretch.

How about a bottle opener ,using the arm and other body part as the opener?

It could be a bottle opener.  I'll have to do some research in that area. Thanks.

I am thinking if its copper its to soft to be a bottle opener. I also think it only dates back to the 1920's to 1940's lots of sexual novelties were made and sold back then.
