Ray, I'm figuring the time period is going to be between 1920 and 1940 (probably 1920's), and I'd concentrate on messenger services or transportaton related fields.  This is the same period that gave us the FTD logo, which this superficially resembles.  I hope that narrows it down a bit.  Given time, someone here will come up with the answer.

I agree with BitBurgAggie.  Looks like an Art Deco representation of the God Mercury.  What's on the back?

it is actually a curved shaped and the logo is same in reverse, like a die-pressed it. and is the size of a silver dollar.

I wonder if it's the center of an old Mercury hubcap, hood detail or someplace else on an old Mercury car.

Could it have been an old key tag ??

It's not an FTD logo

With it being embosed with the Letters T K
I was thinking the "T"  was for Tennessee Just not sure what the "K" would be for.
was it found near a comunity like Kittrell or somewhere that starts with a "K" ??

Posted on: December 28, 2010, 06:01:31 PM
My guess would be a old pocket watch FOB/Cover after going back and reading what you said about the size and the Curved shape and the looking at the pic again I would say the T K was someone's initials.
That and i have been searching the web and came across a site that discussed how old pocket watches had the covers custom made to suit the owners. Just a guess.

Ford Mercury , never used the whole body just the head or bust of Mercury as there logo / symbol.

I wondered about this too till i looked up antique medals for track and field and schools and olympics ,
all of these were flat and not curved.

Ray does it look like it could have had a hinge on it for a pocket watch or the piece for the chain to go thru??
I think it's a interesting piece and have been trying to find it on the internet.
