This was donated to the local Maritime museum.  Nobody knows what it is.  Any help?  The description is as follows: "It is a copper cylinder, one end removable, suffixed by something like a spout.  It seems to have something to do with fire or steam."

Maybe it was some kind of communicator like flashing pulses of light but with smoke or steam in the day time.  Undecided

I wonder if it is for steaming surgical tools in the ships hospital, I've seem things simular in normal hospitals

It definitley looks loke a boiler of some sort. Don't think it is a blacksmiths hearth since it apprears to be brass or bronze. The wing nut at the large end tell me it has a door on the end and would have at least a little pressure behind them.
