Thanks for the response, well it's very heavy and it feels like lead I thought it was a fishing weight at first but it doesn't have a hole in it or any sign
of a wire inserted to tie or use a snap swivel. I'll check it again  Undecided

yea, I think they are right about the bronze, go to gettysburg and look at the cannons they have green on them and they are made of brass. Some of them are brass anyhow not all.

It looks like it could be some kind of Plumb-bob, the kind of thing used to measure the depth of water etc.
I've just had another thought, it looks like the weight used in Grandfather clocks on the pendulum.

What is the diameter?  Is it possibly a brass round from a buffalo hunting rifle? Where was it discovered?  Maybe a gun shop could tell you what it is.

Sorry about this, I said it was off the pendulum but I should have said the chains used to wind the clock up

Hey,
It's about 2 1/2 inches tall by a half inch wide, It's definitely lead the picture is off slightly.
I first thought it was some kind of projectile, I found it in my friends backyard.
Thanks,
Wolfy  Detecting
