Go Up Go Down

Hoping someone one can help with this one! I took the Vaquero out near an old gold mine and found this medallion/necklace at about 5". I think it's brass and it looks like a coin but there is a hole in it as if to be worn around the neck. The triangle (2nd image) says abracadabra over and over. I'd really appreciate any help or input. Thanks in advance

I am no specialist in the matter, but it looks as though it could be Masonic in origine.

Although at first I thought it possible that it could be Masonic, I now believe it is an Abracadabra Talisman.  The first picture shows the Sun in the middle, with the Moon and Star superimposed on it.  Above the sun are 7 stars and the rays of the sun are shown at the bottom.  It also shows a hand with a split fingers.  This is could mean a "priestly blessing".  In the Jewish faith it's usually done with two hands, but in this context I am unsure since I doubt this is a Jewish talisman or Amulet.

The second picture is actually upside down.  If you turn it right side up you will have a triangle.  In the triangle you have the top line of characters that says ABRACADABRA.  Each succeeding line the last character is dropped until all you have is the letter A.  Google "ABRACADABRA Triangle" and you will see plenty examples of what I'm talking about.  The Abracadabra amulet displays ancient symbols originally intended to cure fever and illness by an ancient physician of Rome. The phrase is intended to be spoken nine times, dropping the last letter each time until only the A is left, and in this way the illness was thought to be reduced as well.  You also see perhaps the "All Seeing Eye" (and thus the thought it may be Masonic in nature) as well as what looks like a Hebraic (or some other middleeastern) character and star on each side.  The "All Seeing Eye" is a symbol used in many cultures long before the Masons borrowed it.  Even the Egyptians used it.  An example of an Abracadabra Talisman can be seen at this link:

Many cities have small shops where they sell these kinds of things.  Google your city and the word Mystic and/or Talisman and see what comes up.  Then go down and talk to the shop owners.  They are usually heavily into that kind of stuff and can most likely tell you more.  Whatever you do, don't tick them off or they may just put a curse on you!  Cheesy

Oooh Magic, some years ago I was driving down the A1 and the wife ran her fingers up my inside leg, and I turned into a laybye!   Cheesy

Had to go look up what a "laybye" was.  We call then "REst Stop" here in the US.  So the grandkids had to have a potty break did they?  Grin
