Go Up Go Down

somewhat interesting story here. i found this token at an 1800s home owned by a really nice lady that i had done some garage door work for. i asked her if she had ever detected the property, which she said no. i told her i would be happy to any time she felt it might be fun and that anything of value i found she could keep as the fun is in the finding. i gave her my name and email address and she said she would think on it. several months later she calls me out of the blue and invites me over to look. it wasn't as rich as it could have been, but i did find a silver rosie, several dollars in clad quarters, a large brass ring like a horse tie off of some sort, and this token. turns out she is a forensic scientist, so she said she would take it to work and clean it up, see what i had found. this thing was heavily encrusted and you couldn't make out much of anything. she did an amazing cleanup on it. found it was a california token engraved by the same guy that did the seal for california state. her research led her to this: http:/so-calleddollar.com/Forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=72 sorry, original pictures of cleaned token are too big a file for this site and i cant convert.

That is a great story and find, Busypj!    Great    Thanks for sharing!  Great cleaning job, too.   (Whisper:  "Pssst,  I'm from Oregon, too.  Where did you say that house was...  I wanna do a midnight checkout!)    LOL! Grin
