I'd check for information on Tennessee State University between 1968 and 1980.   And also St Thomas University in St. Paul MN .

(I'd agree with Seldom, except that Texas State University hasn't been called that long enough to have produced such a fine looking jar lid......now if it had the initials for either Southwest Texas State Teachers College or Southwest Texas University, I'd think he might be on to something---but that would still have me wondering how it got to Tennessee).

No arguement here...It's a perfect day to be out hunting, but I'm stuck at the computer trying to figure out why a couple of clients can't get their code to work.

I'd much rather be outside digging up finds......even if it is only old snuff can lids and Prince Albert tins

Thanks guys for your help! guy over on TN found this info....

Vintage SNUFF Glass Container with UST metal lid

Vintage, this Old Snuff glass container with metal(tin) lid is embossed with "UST". This is thought to be from UST founded as the United States Tobacco Co. in 1911. UST, Inc. was a holding company whose subsidiaries included the US Smokeless Tobacco Co. purchased in 2009 by Altria. This container is approx. 5 1/2 in. tall and 2 - 2 1/2" dia. This snuff container was passed down from a deceased family member
