Found about 12" down in a recently landscaped park. At this point I'm guessing it was part of the top ?f the fence of the tennis court that used to be there. Can anyone confirm or have any other ideas?

I'd guess it's made of cast iron but it could be some other form of iron/steel.

looks like the cross section connector for chain link fence. at 12" deep great find...
