Heres some of the items that i found with my Surf Master II, some if them were down very deep 12+ inches. I mostly hunt fresh water beaches and dig all signals, if its very faint i scrape away sand with my foot a few inches and it will get louder. I use all metal to find the target then i turn on the discriminator (just click it on) and if it still cherps even slightly i dig the target. If it doesnt make a sound it is (99%) a bobby pin, i tryed this over and over and it works great for me. Happy Hunting!!!!

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hey Dan- That looks like a fine stash. I just had to call my son (he's 11) to let him look too and he is  just getting into metal detecting- he wants to know where you are hunting!!!

Nice lookin stuff ya found there.

You said that if it does not cherp, it is usually a bobby pin.
Do you use any discrimination? Seems that it should pick
up a bobby pin without discrimination.

What size coil are you using?

Just wonderin,

Tbadog

I hunt fresh water beaches in NY. and Pa. after Labor day weekend, some you need permits for some you dont check with the park attendents first. I hunt in all metal, if i get a signal i just click on the disc. if it still rings i dig it, if not its usually a bobby pin. You have to experiment with your machine. Good Luck hunting!!

I pick up a lot of bobby pins in all metal without any Disc. but if i just turn on my Disc. it will eliminate those pesty bobby pins. I just click it on if it still rings i dig it!!!
