Weldone on your choice of machine as it is a future proof machine due to the knowledge and thought
that has gone it to it's design

Here is a link that talks about the up grade from the V3 to the V3i
and somewhere here they mention about it being able to be a machine that could have constant up grades
when ever they are avaialable.

Thanks for the reply. I believe that after much research and reading that I made the right move with purchasing the V3i. I'll take a look at the link you've attached. Thanks again.

On the first day out I found a couple of dimes. Both were Canadian dimes a 1972 and a 1985.

Well everyone is right about the learning curve. I've been changing settings etc. and have had some luck. A few days ago I found a 1945 wheat penny. A 1963 Canadian penny and a 1969 quarter.

Is it an easy machine to use and are the preset programs good?

I used the coin program that was loaded into the V3i. It definitely sounded a lot of material. I've also found that everytime I use the V3i I learn something new. Most of what I've learned has come from using the machine. There's definitely a learning curve but how long that will go on for who knows.

I've changed some of the settings in the coin and jewelry program. Primarly the Rx gain, discrimination and audio.
