Just remove the battery and the dfx returns to factory preset programs.  The eproms or pro programs will keep any changes after the battery is removed.  IF you want to find gold you have to did everthing.  Tabs and gold rings have the same icon and yes I did find a gold ring with my dfx and many silver rings.   The more you dig the better your luck gets!

See thats what I did, I was new and changed some pro settings. What troubled me was using a rock sample with a prominent vein in it I got no reading. I dont mind digging everything but you cant dig what doesnt read.

The DFX wether it's the older one or the 300 can seem like a lot of machine to some when they first get into it.  There is a bit of a learning curve to it but it's worth taking the time to learn it.  Just take your time with it and most importantly relax and have fun.

Look up "Digging Deeper With DFX" by Jeff Foster. That should help you. It is a good buy

I have the Whites MXT-300, and I can say it's a great machine. The new Whites MXT-300 Pro offers tone ID which can help out with identifying your findings without constantly looking at the screen. Whites puts out quality metal detectors. I think the tone ID was a well thought idea. Well happy hunting
