The XLT should be placed in the metal detector Hall Of Fame. It was the first machine I ever owned. I talked to White's a couple years back and asked if there were any software upgrades that could be done to update my machine. They told me the original software is still being used and that there was no need to upgrade. When they built this machine, they sure did it right the first time! I've had no issues with mine other than replacing the LCD screen which is common with this model and the cost is only about 60.00. It has more options than most people will ever use, it goes deep, it's very light weight, and with it's pre-set programs, is very easy to use. What more could you ask for?

I have been trying to find a used whites on the ebay ( xlt, spectrum, idx) and they must be real good machines because they always go way above my budget. I'm going to keep saving and keep looking.

Have you guys tryed your Local Craigs list.... I just picked up my second XLT from the Craigs List...It is older than my first one that I have- but the software is the same, version 1.1. THe manual is different but other than that pretty much the same.... for 200.00 dollars...The price tag is still on the corner of the machine, Listed at 799.00. I ask if he bought it new and he said no that it was given to him. He also had a pair of head phones, that worked,,,,,It must of not been used much as only one of the custom programs and been saved to...
Also Im new to this forum and just wanted to drop in and say hi....and I agree the XLT is the best.....
