 [welcome]just another Newbie ,I have been given a Treasuremaster tr2d metal Detector and I dont know how to use it or maybe its too old ? I am just deciding which Detector to buy but waiting for some money .anyone out there can HELP me ??

Hello, Traveller.   Welcome to THunting.com.    Those old detectors, especially those made by the more reputable manufacturers were made to last.   There are many 30 and 40 year old machines out there that are still beeping away (although some of them do require a bit of upkeep when it comes to resoldering battery holders or switches).    I'm not sure whether the model is exactly the same or not, but one of members from Scotland recently got a Treasuremaster.  His detector seems to be working for him.   You should be able to pick up a manual for it  here:

hello BA thanks for the Help in finding my Metal Detector in the Whites list ,mine seems to have only a Volume Knob and a Headphones Socket and nothing else on the Box.the words "doublet" is on the search head ,on the sides are transfers with the TreasureMaster written on and below it is "Induction Balance/tr-metal detector.
I have looked on the list but no luck .

Would it be possible for you to post a picture of the detector (particularly the area around the volume knob)?  Hopefully one of the members will recognize it.   In the meantime, I think you will be safe to study the Beachcomber TR-1 or the Beachcomber TR All Metal manual. Just scanning the documents, it looks like both use a single knob configurartion.

FOUND IT..my metal detector is a Beachcomber 1 (the early model without the meter) so I shall be out the weekend trying to find some GOLD or ring pull tops!!!,will report on Monday eve or sooner if I get some TREASURE ....Traveller..

DW has a good tip, but I'd take it a step further.   Before you go out in the field, takd a pull tab, a new nail, a rusty nail, and a few coins of different denominations and check how they sound when you pass your coil over each of them.   The sounds won't be identical to what you hear when the objects have been buried for a while, but it will give you an idea of how your machine is going to react when you did come across a targer.....also, before you go out hunting, take the time to read the previous posts on how to pinpoint----it will definitely help you figure out where to dig.
