Besides costing less, would a Garrett 2500 be better than a Whites DFX or visaversa?

For what use? For cutting weeds, either would be just as good. For nugget hunting, go with the Garrett. For beach hunting, go with the Whites. For coins in parks, Garrett and Whites are about equal. So there you have it.

Your Groundhog, despite being VLF/TR is as good as either of them.
