Well here I am with a conundrum.  What coils to get for a V3i. Here are a few choices that I am considering:

     White's Eclipse 5.3" Search Coil

     White's Eclipse DD 6 x 10" Search Coil

     White's Super 12" Search Coil

     13" Ultimate DD Coil

12x10" SEF Butterfly Searchcoil for V Series

The type of MD'ing I do is looking for rings and occasionally coin shooting when I'm not underwater looking for rings.  Some areas are trashy and I do like to hit the beach sometimes... but they are pretty clean unless you go really deep.

I have contacted Kelly Co and Whites, but I trust real world experience from you guys than some staff member at a store front

Some Basic Coil Info.

Large coils cover more ground but at the expense of not seeing the smaller targets.

Smaller coils cover less ground not as deep as the larger coils but see the smaller targets and can pick there way through trash better.

DD coil types are better in Mineralized soils.  Use a Flatter Paint Brush shape field.   Wider scan.

Concentric go a bit deeper but use a Conical shape field and cover less ground per sweep.

Now that was a clear as Mud , Right?

From what I am told the Eclips can detect on the sides and on the bottom and is good for gold nugget hunting as you can stuff it in the cracks and crevices.
The 5.3 is a good coil for shooting around trash areas.
The butterfly coil I read an interesting review and it really caught my attention.... I will see if I can get it and post it here.
