Hi Roman,
No experience, but after doing a lot of reading, I decided hold off buying as it won't suit my type of detecting. I head Whites are marketing only through "hands on" dealers to make sure customers are shown proper operation.

Thanks,
That kind of makes since but,I have bought with Kellyco for at least 15 years now.
They do make ( in my oppion) false claims from time to time, like advertising that the Minelab explorer when it first came out could give you the information to now the date of a coin before you dug it....stuff like that.
But over all I have never found them to not try to sell any detector as I think that their staff is fully educated on their products.

I have used Whites PI's for the last 15 years as I pretty much only detect on the beach.

But,a recently sold my Whites PI dual field because I flat out got tired of digging junk!

And my original older PI's I feel went deeper and had no transition effects when going from dry sand to wet unlike the duel field and that was with a 10" coil.

The same as with my Minelab sovereign as compared to to my Explorer SE.
The sovereign tune ID was usually on the money with regards to a coin, jewelry or a nail or pull tab etc.
Where the SE was not.
And went it from wet to dry better that the SE.

I was looking at the TDI for it's pulse with some discrimination and if the Nokta Gold King is what it says that it is,It would be a no brain er to use it on the beach with easy digging and the ability to cancel out all non-valuables.

I was also planning to start Gold detecting again and the TDI might be good value as compared to the over priced Minelabs.

What is your plans with the TDI?

I was thinking of doing some gold detecting in Idaho, but wouldn't be ther very long to justify buying the TDI. I am in CT but do some beach detecting in FL. I use the PI Pro with some mods to the electronics. I know what you mean about digging everything. Been detecting since 72 and still don't trust discrimination even on my XLT!!

Kellyco does sell the Whites TDI, however it is only available for sale in our showroom, per Whites. This is the same situation with the Prizm series of detectors.

The inability to test and acquire a TDI locally (sure they can order one, but that's a commitment the locals don't seem to want to make) has greatly reduced my want for a TDI and has turned me onto other detectors that I can get more readily. Good idea to 'require' training when purchasing, but it seems to backfire.

Mudflap,

Do you use anything else on the beach?

I'm thinking that my good old Sovereign is still my best bet?

I was thinking getting a Lorenz or minelab 4500.

Any oppion on either machine for working the beach?

Thanks,

Roman

Roman. Mainly use the Surmaster PI. I could see times when a little discrimination would help. Maybe like in the Garrett Sea Hunter.

I plan to use my TDI on the beach this weekend.  Apparently, one can discriminate out low conductive targets...We'll see...

I have the E.Trac and the Explorer XS for the beach and also have the Whites TDI that i plan to use on sandy beaches in the future, when i get the money together i plan to get the Sea Hunter with the larger 14 x 10 inch coil too.
This year i have had ?1125 in loose change and 8 gold rings 23 silver rings 1 gold chain with sovereign coin and 5 silver chains with mainly the E.Trac .
I find the E.Trac is very good.
I dont think the GPX 4500 is justified for the beach alone, its too expensive but the TDI should pay.

A few weeks ago on a Roman site a mate with his TDI met Gordan Heritage ( ironhearted_gog) from the Minelab forum with his GPX5000 ,they went onto the field to compare the machines and although the GPX has a few more gadgets i think , they buried a 2 pence coin to a depth of around 18 inches refilled the hole and tested there machines to see if both could pick it up, both did and the TDI loudly.
I then with my mate dug a hole in the field and i buried a 1 pence coin (modern) at 18 inches + refilled it and the TDI picked it up also.
The field is extremely mineralised and is black sand , if the TDI can find stuff in that when almost all other detectors used on that day would struggle to get to 5 inches on a coin then i cant wait to get mine out.
