I am looking to purchase a new detector and wondered if the V3I is really worth the price point they have on it.
I would appreciate your opinions/advice.
Thanks
Larry

Hello Larry,

I would recommed going for the Whites MXT instead. A quality machine, easier to use than the V3 and much lower price. Also recommended is the Minelab Safari.

Best wishes,

Christian

Hello: Larry

I have a V3I and I love it.  The pin pointing is right on, and the ten factory programs that are built in all work great.  You can adjust all of them to your own liking and if you get into trouble with them, the unit has a restore back to factory settings.  And as you grow with it, you can write your own settings.  I had a whites unit previously and up graded to the V3I the wireless headphones are wonderful.  No more getting hung up in the branches or being attached to the unit.  It is pricey, but if you can afford it, go for the best.

Can you give me some more information on the V3i.  I too am looking into buying one and have owned a Spectra before, so am familiar with some of the capabilities.  It almost, though, looks like to many bells and whistles. Are all these graphs and settings just in the way or are they valid?

Wow.  That is a great link for the V3i. Especially the spreadsheets and the programs.  Tells me a lot about the machine and it's capabilities.  Thank you.

I have had 2 other brands of detectors which I thought were great until I got the V3i. Hands down I will put it up against them both. They were top of their line models and for what I paid I have no complaints, but no match for V3i.
The more acomplished I become with it the more advanced I can program it to tailor it to exactly what I am doing. It is sofisticated but user friendly.

Hi Larry, It does have quite a learning curve but there is a lot of help available both on here and on the Whites Forum. I would recommend that at first you stick with one of the factory programs ( I started with the Coin & Jewelry Program) and ask questions about anything that doesn't seem to work for you. Then I copied the C&J program and changed a few of the setting and compared how they worked to get familiar with what they did. Then I loaded Foxe's C & J program got familiar with it and then tweaked it to my needs.
By then with the forums help and questions asked it all started to make sense and my confidence grew. I re cogmend that you take it slow and ask, ask, ask,. You machine is only as good as you are.
Now as soon as I figure out how to post photos on here I will. I did luck out and dig a ring that more than paid for my V3i.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
