I recommend the MXT or the MXT Pro they are all purpose metal detectors and can find the smallest flake of gold also. They are easy to learn and you can pick one up new for $660 or around $500 used

You can always go with a basic beginner model but by next year you will probably be looking to upgrade. There is a lot of info available here on this site about the MXT and to be honest with you the MXT is not that difficult to operate so you may be surprised. One thing is for sure with a MXT you wont be missing anything.

Hi there, well you asked so I will answer your question,

the Etrac is useless in Iron infested sites and you will have to work so slow with it and the F75 does have EMI issues, and also they are on about their 6th or 7th circut board and it too can be a problem in very very bad Iron sites and both of these two machines cost more than they are worth,

I'd go for the MXT Pro, In fact I have just orderd my 3rd one today, why my third one you are thinking well I sold the other two when I moved house but now I want a new one with a new warrenty so my machines are always covered, they have been my most productive machines ever and If it dont find it then it aint there, hope this helps,

AU

Sizzler66,

EMI = electro-magnetic  interference (such as overhead power lines, cell phones, etc. ). Coloma Gold

Sizzler some places will let you try a model out but with every machine there is a learning curve, of course the simpler the machine the easy it is to learn but you may not recover everything either. Im not sure where you live but if you called around you may a shop close by.
