Patton trained over 1 million troops in the southwest desert here in the US
Tank tracks can still be seen via Google earth
along with miles of roads from tent cities and airfields

I found a book titled WHERE HEROS TRAINED

but does anyone else have a resource for this operation?

Would love to talk with anyone who was there, I'd travel for a face to face

I know that the Phoenix Public Library has a couple of different volumes on the Desert Training Center in their non-circulating Arizona collection

There are also dozens of training airstrips in the region from the same time period, some associated with the DTC and some not.

(by the way, Patton was only there for a short time....basically to get the initial center started,  but whether he was there or not, all of the associated sites are referred to locally as "Patton camps")
