yes i do agree with seldom, there is always a chance of japanese loot hidden in the philippines , treasure hunters must spend time researching important facts that might be missing to complete a puzzle,
seldom is that paper currency still accepted by the us government?

Good question sydney if it was currency yes but if it was US script no but script would hold a collector valve to some extent.

Sorry you do not want to no longer participate in the thread you created. The huge amount of currency had to have come from somewhere. Why US servicemen were involved peeked my curiosity. Didn't mean to strike a nerve.

RO you have never add a thing to any thread here out of your 200+ post. I for don't think you are a TH just a sad little boy who feels big with a keyboard in front of you you sir are a troll.

I certainly did not mean to offend you. As far as contributing any thing, you overlooked this, above: "It is a well known fact the submarine USS Trout safely took the gold from the Treasury off the Island, coinage from the Mint was dumped into the Bay and currency burned". Not only was I contributing to the thread by giving the name of the submarine that carried off the gold from the Filipino treasury, and a blurb about dumping coins into the Bay....I was affirming that currency was, in fact burnt.

I also believe that I have contributed to other threads, as well. Maybe not with pictures of wheat pennies or pop-tops, but intellectual dialog.

I am not a little boy, nor am I a troll. I am, however, very defensive when it comes to claims of United States soldiers being thieves to enhance a "treasure tale". The story would have been much more entertaining, and plausible, had the thief had been a bank employee or other.

Again...I did not mean to offend you.

Signing off, Rational Observer

You've presented a very interesting possibility, Seldom. If the loot is still there, I wonder if it's in a wooden or a steel 50 caliber ammo box. If I recall correctly, steel ammo boxes were only introduced in the later stages of WW2.

However if the soldier's negotiations with the Philippine government failed and/or no recovery was made, the chances are high that some savvy govt official would have started a search for it.
