Hello everyone,

Good day!..I am an amateur thunter and i am in dire need of your help. I believe some of you would be willing to help me on this one...I intend to work on a project but my lead told me that there are booby traps in the tunnel we intend to explore. Can anyone pleases share your knowledge on disarming japanese booby traps? what kind of booby traps did the japanese made? my lead told me the japanese must have planted bombs and set it as booby traps in the project site, and i believe this since he saw some wires when he went inside...Will anyone pls advise me what to do? I've been researching about types of bombs and booby trapsof the japanese but i didn't find mush info about it...please help me...

many thanks,
golgfish

Hello Goldfish,

You might try researching the Vietnam Tunnel Rats.  I think there would likely be many similarities in traps and also the techniques used to counter them.  There are some books and documentaries on the Tunnel Rats and some information on the web.

Here are a couple links I found but there possibly is more detailed information around..................

Vintage WWII Bomb Unearthed
Contributed by: Glo Abaeo Tuazon
Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet. In the wake of the continous rainfall the past week, a part of the small mountain visible from the Halsema Highway owned by the Polick family in Tublay, Benguet eroded and exposed a metal protrusion embedded in the soil. Reportedly a child saw it and in curiosity climbed up to check eventually started digging to expose the tail part of a massive vintage bomb. In fear the residents called up the police office of Tublay and Atok (the bomb located in the boundary of Atok and Tublay) between 9-9:30am of June 10, 2009. The swift arrival of the police force and the municipal officials prompted the inspection and further digging of the missile. Camp Dangwa was informed and men from Explosives and Ordinance Division (EOD)  were sent to secure the piece.

and the local peoples rumors is that its a 'booby trap' for something hidden..... Smiley

Hello taga_bantay (kailian)

I heard this story i think late last year...probably something in there, but could also be unexploded bomb during the war...or perhaps the loot is inside the bomb? Wink

There are lots of world war 2 bombs all over the philippines drop from bomber planes. Lots of artillery ammo has also been abandoned in war zones or japanese occupied areas.

Worked in EOD during military service. NOTE! Working on old ordinance is a losing proposition. Too unstable. Good luck!
